A Different Point of View.

01. THE HOUSE

Atelier Gaucher is an independent fashion house rooted in the traditions of tailoring and shaped by a contemporary perspective.

Guided by discipline, restraint, and individuality, the house explores the balance between elegance and expression, structure and movement.

Clothing should complement the character of the individual.

02. THE NAME

Atelier Gaucher
ah-tuh-LYAY goh-SHAY · French

atelier (n.) — A workshop or studio devoted to craftsmanship and creative work.

gaucher (adj.) — Left-handed.

The name began with the image of a boxer.

In imagining the character of Atelier Gaucher, Elijah Paul was drawn to the name Southpaw, both for the boxer he envisioned and the archetype he represented. A fighter whose unconventional stance offers a different perspective, and whose strength lies as much in discipline and instinct as in speed, precision, and fluidity.

A conversation with a friend from Paris about the meaning of southpaw led to the word gaucher, meaning left-handed. From this simple exchange, the name of the house emerged.

Boxing provided the earliest foundation for its philosophy: The discipline to train, the courage to challenge convention, and the pursuit of mastery through continuous refinement.

Yet, what began in the ring has evolved beyond it.

Today, Atelier Gaucher explores these same principles through clothing, craftsmanship, character, curiosity, and individuality. The boxer remains a symbol of the house's origins, but never the boundary of its imagination.

Tailoring as a Foundation.

03. THE APPROACH

Atelier Gaucher draws from the traditions of Italian tailoring, with particular attention to proportion, material, and construction.

That foundation allows the house to explore how established sartorial principles can coexist with contemporary silhouettes and everyday movement.

The ambition extends beyond clothing for a particular occasion or season.

Each piece is conceived as something to wear, cherish, collect, and eventually pass on. Over time, garments acquire character through their relationship with the wearer, becoming part of a wardrobe's history rather than simply its rotation.

Between Atlanta and Rome.

04. THE ORIGINS

Atlanta informs the character of Atelier Gaucher. Its creative independence, cultural exchange, and instinct for expression shape the perspective of the house.

In Rome, that perspective encounters another set of disciplines rooted in craftsmanship and design. Through the close creative partnership of Elijah Paul and Lorenzo Attanasio, ideas are explored through silhouette, proportion, and material.

This work extends into the making. At MMS Studio, an independent garment development and manufacturing atelier near Rome, the house's designs take physical form through patternmaking, print development, and sampling.

The distance between these two cities is part of the creative process. Each brings its own influences and sensibilities, allowing the house to explore the space between sartorial tradition and contemporary expression.

Respectful of tradition without being confined by it, Atelier Gaucher continues to develop a language that is considered, distinctive, and entirely its own.
